As Texas was defending its claim to be a new and independent republic in 1836 a final crucial victory was won at San Jacinto. This was a very important battle in relation to the independence of Texas. This battle took place on 21st of April in the year 1836 in the present day location of Harris County of Texas. Sam Houston was the person that led the army from Texas against the Mexican general Antonio Lopez De Santa. the battle between the two armies took place for just 18 minutes and the Mexican general was taken as the prisoner of war. Santa Anna the president of Mexico was also captured and the treaty of making Texas independent was signed within 3 weeks.
