It gave Jackson the authority to relocate the Indians to federal territories west of the Mississippi where they could govern without any interference.  The tribes removed were the Cherokee, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and the Seminole.  However, many died along the way and this caused conflict between some of the Indian tribes and the government.  There was protest even among the white people protested this policy because it was unfair to the Indians who were forced endure harsh living conditions on the reservation.
